17 January 2013 - Dusk Photo

Had to wait until the sun was down to go home
after a 42 degrees celcius day.

(delayed posting because of hot weather)

1 December 2012 - Polos & Light at the End of the Tunnel

Nostalgia for an English childhood

Only 1 month to go on this 365 project

The light is actually at the end
of Adelaide Railway Station,
on the way to visit Deb and Chris for lunch

19 November 2012 - Elder Park Rotunda Shadows

Photos from the Rotunda in Elder Park, a popular venue for
public entertainments large and small.

The bird is local native, a Murray Magpie (Grallina cyanoleuca)

The construction in the background is going to be
Adelaide's new public hospital.

Sunlight on the water, looking down from the jetty.

Beautiful Glenelg beach in Spring,
on a mild but sunny Saturday, the beach was quiet.

16 November 2012 - Sunlight Sparkles on the River Torrens

The River Torrens runs down from the Adelaide Hills,
through the suburbs and through the city centre
(where I took these photos on the way home from work)
and out into the sea at Henley Beach.

15 November 2012 - Jacaranda Tree Shadow

Heather Ingram created one of her Guy In The Life images
by combining lots of photos.

I liked how the late afternoon shadow on the wall
had some sharp clean edges and some hazy soft edges.

14 November 2012 - Solar Eclipse Viewer

Bright and early at 7.30am today I was out in the back yard
trying to take a photo of an image of this morning's solar eclipse.

We only got a partial eclipse in Adelaide.
Up in Palm Cove in Queensland they got to see the full eclipse.

Back in Ye Olden Days my Dad showed us how
to watch an eclipse safely by projecting the sun's light
through a very small hole in card onto a sheet of paper.
You get to watch a tiny solar eclipse image on the paper.

You should never look straight at the sun
as it will cause immediate and irreparable damage
to the retina in your eye

I used a 2mm knitting needle (US size zero)
to make the holes in my viewer.

13 November 2012 - Billboard, Photoshop & Artrage Banner

Internet provider Internode is using a sun-inspired image
in their summer marketing campaigne.

I used Photoshop to switch my blog banner
that was made in Artrage
for their billboard ad.

It's nice to know that someone out there is getting
paid to create sun-inspired images.

I took these photos at the Caledonian Hotel
on my way home from work today.
I didn't stop in at the pub!
