31 December 2012 - White Pen & Watercolour Pencils

After looking at "One Zentangle A Day" a book by Beckah Krahula.

This is using the Paper Batik idea, painting over lines
drawn with a white gel pen.

I used a Pentel Hybrid Gel pen,
Art Spectrum watercolour (Australian Red Gold)
and Derwent Watercolour Pencils

29 December 2012 - Glass Paint (home made) & Dot-Painting

I made home-made glass paint using PVA glue and food dye
as suggested in a Klutz kids' activities card,
2 drops of food dye in 1 teaspoon of glue.

I used the wrong end of a paintbrush
for dot-painting on an empty honey jar
and kept the design very simple.

It becomes transparent as it dries.

NOTE - it is not water-proof

28 December 2012 - Pop Tabs, Seed Beads & Wire

Monique's pop tab butterfly provided helpful suggestions:
"Don't let your wire kink because it will weaken and break at the kinks."
"Go slow, patience patience!"

You will find Monique's many lovely pop tab creations on her blog
and available to buy on Etsy (including her fridge magnet butterflies)

27 December 2012 - Modelling Paste Pendant

My second attempt using air-drying clay. It's still wet.

I used Darwi Classig Air-drying Modelling Paste.
It dries quickly (in our climate) so needs water
wiped over the surface while working on it.

Tools for working with clay are lovely shapes in themselves.

14 December 2012 - Out Of Date

Spring-cleaning the kitchen cupboard.

Juniper berries, Jasmine tea, Tuscan spice mix,
all well out of date - sad that I wasted them.

13 December 2012 - Candle

A blended beeswax aromatherapy candle
"Inspiration" from Karma Living,
orange, rosemary and clove.
Sadly a discontinued range.
