Pop Tab Butterfly Landed - Thanks Monique!

Thank you for the lovely pop tab butterfly Monique!

It landed in Adelaide today (care of Nancy)
on my Dad's photo of Boaz the lizard in their wildlife-friendly garden

You can find Monique's clever recycled pop tab creations on her blog and on Etsy

28 May 2012 - Ellen's 366 Cranes

Ellen Katsumoto Fithian sent me two of her origami cranes to photograph as part of her 366 Cranes project. Each of her cranes comes with a quote attached. See the cranes in photos all around the world and read the inspiring quotes

Crane No 144:  Perhaps inagination is only intelligence having fun.
-- George Scialabba

Photographed on the sundial on the forecourt of the Adelaide Festival Centre

Crane No 143:  Trust that little voice in your head that says, "wouldn't it be interesting if..." And then do it.
-- Duane Michaels

Photographed at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens in the citty centre,
on the main gate and on a hakea bush.

There were also beautiful sacred ibis foraging in the Botanic Gardens that day.

Thank you Ellen for sharing your lovely cranes with me!

Beautifully soft 100% alpaca Grignasco Top Print

With the onset of wintery weather I've been distracted from sun-inspired projects
by knitting-to-keep-people-warm projects

Typing mitts, K2P2 rib, based on some my sister improvised a couple of years ago.

23 May 2012 - Bronze Gouache on PVA on Paper

That little pot of gold gouache had dried up
rock solid
so I went and bought a little pot of bronze gouache
but then discoverd
you can revitalise dried up old gouache
by adding a bit of demineralised water

It's raining gently tonight, it was nice waiting at the bus stop, watching the slow-falling tiny drops shining in the glow from the street lights.

22 May 2012 - Paper Cutout

My clunky attempt at a paper cutout.

Mawarini does beautiful delicate paper cutouts and sometimes
performs with them in collaboration with other artists.

I went to a Stirring the Possum community forum this evening, there were interesting guest speakers

19 May 2012 - Bead Pendant

A simple pendant made of a hand-made silver-lined glass bead on a leather thread.
Supplies from "Voilà ! Beads in the City" at 298 Rundle Street in Adelaide city centre,
one of those shops you go in for a quick look and half an hour later...

(They don't appear to have a website.)

The broomstick crochet experiment finished off today
as a wrap-around-three-times skinny cowl

11 May 2012 - Bandana Cowls

Gift for Sonia and Ryan for chilly Melbourne autumn and winter days without enough sun.
It's their Adelaide engagement party tomorrow (she's from here, he's from there).
Melbourne where they live is known for its changable weather.

8 May 2012 - Crochet Flower Idea from Branka

Branka Vidovic-Butler is a talented professionally trained artist who
is experimenting with various arts and crafts for her 365 project
She's learning crochet and found this design with sun-like potential for us to try

I modified the pattern a little using 3 chains at the beginning of each round insead of 2.
The pattern is written using American crochet terms not English crochet terms.
I used 3ply cotton and 2.5mm hook

Thank you Branka!

7 May 2012 - Mandarin

This project takes inspiration from Kenneth's Provine's entertaining 365 Creative Creatures
365creativecreatures.blogsp
ot.com/

My creature's existance began on a sun-drenched mandarin tree somewhere.
He needs some whiskers but I couldn't find anything to use.

and a black pen.

3 May 2012 - ArtRage - Watercolour & Eraser

Playing around wanting to make an image for the background of my blog.

This second ArtRage was done a few days ago using ArtRage eraser and a spectrum photo.
